Clear, Clean, and Conversion-Ready: HubSearch's Journey to a Better Website
Imagine discovering that your biggest business obstacle wasn't your competition or market conditions—it was your own website, silently sabotaging your growth.
When HubSearch realized their outdated site was leaving potential clients confused rather than converted, they knew they had a problem, and the only solution was a full website redesign.
So, in 2024, they kicked things into high gear and partnered with Lean Labs to level-up their website.
The results? Clearer messaging, cleaner design, and a modern feel they’re proud to share with prospects and clients.
I chatted with HubSearch’s Jason Azocar to get the full picture.

HubSearch’s Website Redesign Journey
Kevin: Jason, let’s kick off with what brought you to the realization you needed a website redesign. What issues were you looking to solve with your website?
Jason: As my team and I at HubSearch were thinking about designing and building a new website, the primary driver for us was better lead conversion. We were seeing pretty good volume of clicks and views and we were struggling to convert on the site. So we wanted a beautiful site. We wanted a great experience, but primarily what we wanted was better conversion from the site to help us sign new clients.
Kevin: That makes sense. It sounds like the old site might have been a bit outdated?
Jason: Yeah, the site was a cobbled together mixture of things that we had built over many years as non web developers, as non website designers. It was essentially a collection of our best guesses. It was outdated and looked old and was ready for a visual overhaul that we hoped and that we hope will result in better conversion.
Kevin: Let’s talk about the decision process. What made you try thinking about Lean Labs as a solution? What made you want to talk to Lean Labs?
Jason: I think Hub Search is in a bit of a unique spot from a “who we work with” perspective because many of our clients, in fact about 50 % of our clients, are HubSpot partners. So we had a pretty good view on the ecosystem.
We had the ability to work with anybody and the decision process was pretty easy for us. I asked a number of people who they thought was the best web dev, web design shop in our space. And I heard Lean Labs a number of times.
So the decision process for us was pretty simple. We wanted the best. Kevin: Excellent. What were your thoughts during the early phases of chatting with our team? What were your thoughts in the pre-purchase planning process?
Jason: Even though I was already pretty sure we going to work with Lean Labs, I did have conversations with several other agencies just so that I had a comparison point. What I was really looking for was true partnership, real strategy on the website, and the ability to create something beautiful.
What I found with some of the other shops that I spoke with was they had a component of that, but not the full view of performance and visual. One of the reasons why Lean Labs became a no-brainer for us was it became clear through the evaluation process that you could create a beautiful website that was very much designed to convert leads
Kevin: All right, great. Can you speak to how the website is addressing your initial goals? It might be a bit early post-launch for conversion numbers, but how has it helped you address the initial problems and goals?
Jason: It is early to talk about actual views or clicks or conversion data yet — the site's been live for less than a week — but it absolutely addressed the visual need.
Our previous site was just totally outdated. I mean, it was, like I said, it was cobbled together over years and done by non-professional designers. So the immediate impact was we just instantly had a much, much better looking property that I think better represents us, our brand. And we just have this beautiful modern property now, and we're excited to see over time how it's going to change the conversion of visitors.
Also, and importantly, our old site was confusing. It wasn't organized all that well. We've added so many services to what we do over the years that it was difficult to navigate. It was confusing to tell what we actually do and focus on. And the new site makes it very clear who we are and what we do.
In short, the original HubSearch.com was confusing to navigate. It was not crystal clear who we are and what we focus on because we've expanded to do many things over time and that wasn't well represented.
Lean Labs cut through the confusion, designed a beautiful website that made it very clear who we are and what we're experts at and designed the site in a way to make the buyer journey really clear.
Kevin: What did it feel like working with the Lean Labs team? How did the process feel for you and your team?
Jason: Working with Lean Labs felt great.
I tend to be a pretty high maintenance customer. I know that about myself and I generally tell that to the companies that I work with and that we select as partners.
[With Lean Labs,] I always felt like I had access. I felt like response time on any inquiries that I had was really quick. And the Lean Labs team did just an amazing job of communication, project management, accurate estimates on delivery timeframes, and then delivering on those estimates.
Kevin: Awesome. So, what would you say to someone who is considering Lean Labs, but they don't know much about our brand and our business yet?
Jason: For anybody who's considering Lean Labs, I would say go through your process, do your homework, get comparison points, and it'll be very clear why Lean Labs is the right choice.
Kevin: Perfect! Do you have any additional thoughts about the process? Moments or website elements that stood out to you?
Jason: One of the standouts for me going through the project was I went into it mentally expecting a very difficult, very drawn out, very complicated project because I knew that I couldn't fully describe what I wanted, what I needed. So part of this was going to be asking people to read my mind and pull information from me. Instead, it felt seamless. In fact, it felt fun. I found myself enjoying the process.
Kevin did a great strategy session with us at the beginning and then Maria and Jessie were exceptional through the process at helping manage the build and ultimately delivering a gorgeous website that we can't wait to see the data on.
Kevin: Amazing. Thank you, Jason, I appreciate the time!
